Frequently Asked Questions about our Dorms

 

  • Where are the dorms located?  On the Nebraska Lutheran High School campus in Waco, Nebraska.
  • Are the boys and girls in separate quarters?  Yes, the boys have a separate dorm building from the girls.
  • How many rooms are in the boarding facility?  32 total rooms (16 boys, 16 girls)
  • How many students are in each room?  3 to 4 students per room
  • How are the dorms supervised?  2 female tutors (teachers) supervise and live in the girls' dorm and 2 male tutors (teachers) supervise and live in the boys' dorm
  • How can students be reached in an emergency?  Each tutor's residence has a phone and we can also provide a phone in each dorm room.
  • Where are the three daily meals served?  In the school cafeteria, we have 4 cooks who serve our meals.
  • What amenities are available?  Laundry, Student Union, living area, study room, games room, cafeteria, internet, computers
  • Are there any activities planned for students?  Weekend shopping trips to nearby cities occur regularly.  The tutors also set up social events regularly for the students.
  • Brief description of dorm rules:  Study Hall is required every evening unless special permission is granted.  Students have set in-dorm times and in-bed times based on their ages.  Cell phones and computers are turned in when students go to bed.
  • Approximate number of students from each country represented in the dorms:  61 from USA, 3 from Brazil, 4 from South Korea, 5 from China, 2 from Vietnam
  • Does the school meet all health, safety and fire requirements?  Yes, we are inspected regularly.
  • Do the dorms close anytime between September and June?  During all school holidays the dorms will close.  We will find host families for our international students during those times.  The breaks are Labor Day Weekend, Fall Break, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Spring Break, and Easter.
  • What is the evening schedule in the dorms? 
    • 6:00 p.m. - Supper
    • 7:10 p.m. - Chapel
    • 7:30 p.m. - Study hall begins
    • 9:00 p.m. - Study hall ends
    • 10:00 p.m. - In-dorm time for freshmen and sophomores
    • 10:15 p.m. - Bed time for freshmen and sophomores
    • 10:30 p.m. - In-dorm time for juniors and seniors
    • 10:45 p.m. - Bed time for juniors and seniors
